Ove Arup and Partners were appointed in March 2000 by Iarnrod Eireann (IE) to undertake a review of the Cork Suburban Rail Network. Whilst this was essentially a desk top study, it involved consultation with Cork Corporation and Cork County Council, and site visits to identify potential rail infrastructure improvements and new station locations.
