Further Growth in Expenditure by Overseas Visitors in 2017

Data published by the Central Statistics Office today shows that spending in Ireland by overseas visitors (excluding fares) for 2017 rose by 6.5% to €4.874 billion compared with 2016. The data also shows that the number of trips to Ireland in the key target market of holidaymakers rose by 7.3%, while spending by holidaymakers was up 8.3% for 2017 when compared with 2016.

CSO Data Confirms Record Year for Overseas Visitors in 2017

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross T.D., and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin T.D., today welcomed the publication of official data on overseas travel for 2017 from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), which showed an increase of +3.6% in overseas visits to Ireland for 2017 compared to 2016. There was a record number of overseas visits to Ireland in 2017 at 9,932,100.

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross TD, and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Brendan Griffin TD, today welcomed the latest official data on overseas travel from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), which showed an increase of 3.7% in overseas visits to Ireland for the first eleven months of 2017 compared to the same period of 2016.

The Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, Shane Ross T.D. and the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin T.D. today (28th November) welcomed the latest official data on overseas travel from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), which showed an increase of 3.1% in overseas visits to Ireland for the first ten months of 2017 compared to the same period of 2016.
