The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport’s review of the 2017 round of the Sports Capital Programme (SCP) was published on the Department’s website today.
The SCP is the primary means of providing Government funding to sport and community organisations at local, regional and national level. It aims to foster an integrated and planned approach to the development of sports and physical recreation facilities. Over €60m was allocated to sports clubs and organisations under the 2017 round of the programme.

Minster for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross TD and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin TD, today paid tribute to Liam Miller who sadly passed away late last night.

The Minster for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr. Shane Ross, TD, and the Minister with responsibility for Sport, Mr. Brendan Griffin, TD, have called on those in leadership positions within the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) community in Ireland, to introduce, as speedily as possible, best-practice safety and governance standards.
Noting the recommendations of the Coroners’ Court in the inquest into the death of MMA fighter Joao Carvalho, Minister Ross stated:
