This week Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross T.D. looked to the future as he opened the annual meeting of the European Transport Conference in Dublin Castle. Announcing that his Department is working on “Guidelines for testing autonomous vehicles on public roads”, Minister Ross said:

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross TD, has today delivered on his personal commitment to ensure that each public transport board includes at least one director with direct personal experience of disability.
Upon taking office, Minister Ross made clear that one of his priorities would be to ensure that the voices of people with a disability would be heard at the top of those bodies responsible for the provision of public transport.
Five drown per fortnight* - Know the drowning risks to avoid summer tragedy
Irish Water Safety, Coast Guard and RNLI have issued a joint appeal reminding the public to stay alert to the risk of drowning at all times and especially in the current hot weather. On average, five people drown in Ireland every fortnight and the risks increase during July and August, the most popular months for swimming and other water based activities.
