Minister Ross hails landmark environment agreement at aviation summit in Montreal

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, T.D., today welcomed the landmark agreement reached between almost 200 countries at a meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in Montreal. The agreement seeks to curb CO2 emissions from international aviation and has been strongly supported by the aviation industry and by international representatives of airlines and airports.

Minister Ross hosts high level Chinese aviation visit

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross T.D. was delighted to meet a high level Chinese aviation delegation in Dublin today. The Chinese delegation was led by Mr. Feng Zhenglin, the Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Minister Ross met with the delegation this morning and discussed a number of aviation issues of mutual interest.

Irish Aviation Authority is new competent authority in charge of noise management

Following consultation with his Cabinet colleagues this afternoon, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross T.D. announced plans to appoint the Irish Aviation Authority as the new Competent Authority in charge of noise management and operating restrictions at Dublin Airport.

This is in line with the new EU regulation 598/2014.

This follows the publication of an independent review, carried out by Indecon Economic Consultants, in line with an undertaking given in the National Aviation Policy (NAP), published last August.

The National Aviation Policy (NAP), which was published in August 2015, commits to an independent review of airport charges regulation. Indecon Economic Consultants, who were engaged by the Department to undertake this work, completed its review of airport charges regulation in Ireland in December 2015.
