“Making Ireland the most competitive aviation country in the world”
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross T.D. delivered the opening address at the 1st National Civil Aviation Development Forum Conference at Dublin Castle today.
Minister Ross welcomed “the daa’s decision to proceed with the development of a second parallel runway at Dublin airport.”

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross TD, announced today that his Department is allocating €2.77 million in funding support for the four regional airports in Donegal, Ireland West Airport Knock, Kerry and Waterford.
Minister Ross said: “These grant allocations are being made under the Regional Airports Programme 2015-2019, which supports these airports with both capital and operational grants for projects and activities in the areas of safety and security.”

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has today published a request for tenders (RFT) for A Review of Future Capacity Needs at Ireland’s State Airports.
On 22 September 2016, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport announced a review into the future capacity needs at Ireland’s State Airports. This review was outlined as an objective to be undertaken in 2019 in the Department’s 2015 National Aviation Policy. However, given the recent growth in passenger numbers and future projected growth, Minister Ross decided to bring the review forward. The review concerns the long-term development of Ireland’s State Airports (Dublin, Cork and Shannon) to 2050.

NOTICE OF A CONSULTATION ON A PROPOSAL FOR AMENDMENT TO NATIONAL LEGISLATION CONCERNING AVIATION SECURITY REGULATION AND RELATED MATTERS
On 1 January 2013, the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport transferred certain of the Department’s aviation security regulation functions to the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) by means of the European Communities (Civil Aviation Security) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 (Statutory Instrument No. 551 of 2012).
