Aer Canada’s decision to operate its Dublin to Toronto service all year round has been welcomed by Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar who said it’s a welcome boost for Irish tourism.
Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar has welcomed today’s decision by the European Commission to prohibit Ryanair’s proposed takeover of Aer Lingus.
“I note the Ryanair statement. As I have stated before, the Ryanair remedies package as reported has not satisfied the Government’s concerns about connectivity, competition or employment.
“I do not wish to make further comment until the European Commission has formally made its decision.”
Delta airline’s announcement of three extra flights to and from the US every week is more good news for Irish tourism, according to Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar.

Decision will grant full independence to Shannon Airport & create new commercial aviation & trade entity
The Government has decided to grant Shannon Airport full independence from Dublin Airport Authority on December 31st 2012 and merge the airport with a restructured Shannon Development to form a new, publicly-owned, commercial entity in 2013.
