Minister Donohoe welcomes Irish airports’ success in aviation awards

Cork, Shannon and Dublin secure awards in recognition of the hard work and efforts of the sector

 

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD, has today (Thursday) welcomed the latest win for an Irish airport in international aviation awards.  The Airport Achievement Award 2014/2015, which was presented to Shannon Airport last night by the European Regions Airlines Association (ERA) at a ceremony in Barcelona, comes on the back of a number of awards secured in recent weeks and months.

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe, has today (Wednesday) welcomed the announcement that Icelandic carrier, WOW, is to launch a new Dublin-Reykjavik service from next June. The service, which will run year round, will see flights running on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and marks the first scheduled service between the two cities.

Dublin City University (DCU) and daa International have come together to establish the Dublin Aviation Institute, a new joint venture designed to deliver global leadership in aviation education and research.

Based at Dublin Airport and DCU, the Dublin Aviation Institute will work closely with industry partners to support the growth of the sector and the increasing professionalization of its workforce.

Minister Donohoe congratulates Ryanair on ground-breaking Boeing deal which will contribute further to job creation

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD, today (Tuesday) welcomed the announcement by Ryanair that it has signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase 100 new 737 MAX 200 aircraft, with an option to purchase a further 100. The order is Boeing’s biggest ever order from a European airline and comes as Ryanair takes delivery of the first in its current order of 180 Boeing 737-800 NextGen aircrafts.

This latest deal will expand Ryanair’s fleet from its current level of just over 300 to 520 aircraft by 2024.

Invitation to Tender Notice for Public Service Obligation routes (Donegal/Dublin, Kerry/Dublin)

 

In accordance with EU Council Regulation 1008/2008, the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport is inviting tenders from interested carriers to operate Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes in Ireland.

 

Single European Sky initiative - UK-IRELAND FAB Performance Plan 2015-2019

The Single European Sky initiative, launched in 2004 and updated in 2009, aims to secure an improved and better harmonised provision of air navigation services across Europe. A key element of this initiative is the development of performance plans by each of nine European Functional Airspace Blocks (FAB), including the UK-Ireland FAB.  This document is the UK- Ireland FAB performance plan and supporting documents for the period 2015 to 2019 inclusive. Performance targets are proposed for en-route and terminal air navigation services and meet the requirements of the Single European Sky.
