Ireland’s 2015-2019 Regional Airports Programme approved by EU Commission – Donohoe

Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD, is pleased to announce today (Thursday) that formal approval has now been received from the Commission for Ireland’s 2015-2019 Regional Airports Programme following a lengthy and detailed consultation process with the EU Commission, which commenced in July 2014.

The Programme will allow for the State to provide much needed financial supports (State aid) to the four regional airports at Kerry, IWA Knock, Donegal and Waterford over the lifetime of the Programme.

Government to formally accept IAG’s offer for Aer Lingus - Donohoe

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD, has welcomed the outcome of the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Aer Lingus shareholders this morning (Thursday) which passed resolutions to enshrine the connectivity commitments secured by the Government from IAG into Aer Lingus’ Articles of Association giving them full legal effect.

“Following careful consideration of all of the issues involved I announced on 26 May last that the Government had decided to support IAG’s Offer for Aer Lingus. I stated at the time that formal acceptance of IAG’s Offer by the State would be dependent on a number of conditions being met to ensure the connectivity commitments contained in the Offer are implemented as agreed with IAG.

Minister Donohoe welcomes new services from Cork Airport

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport,  Paschal Donohoe TD, has this morning (Wednesday) welcomed the announcement by CityJet of a new Cork-London City Airport service.  The new service, which will commence on 1st October, will operate three times per day from Monday to Friday, with one return flight on Saturdays and two flights on Sundays.

Minister Ring welcomes Government’s decision on Aer Lingu

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD, today (Wednesday) welcomed the government’s support for International Airlines Group (IAG)’s offer for Aer Lingus.  The Government decision was taken following detailed and careful consideration of all of the issues involved in a potential disposal of the State’s 25.1% minority shareholding in Aer Lingus and the extensive discussions that have taken place with IAG on the matters.

That Dáil Éireann, pursuant to section 3(5) of the Aer Lingus Act 2004, approves the general principles of the disposal of shares in Aer Lingus Group plc by the Minister for Finance in accordance with section 3(2) of the Aer Lingus Act 2004, which were laid before Dáil Éireann on 27 May 2015.
