Cabinet approves changes to Ireland / United States Preclearance Agreement to allow for enhanced services at Dublin and Shannon Airports

The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Simon Coveney TD and the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr. Shane Ross TD, have welcomed the decision of the Government earlier today to approve proposals for changes to the Ireland / United States Preclearance Agreement to allow for enhanced services at Dublin and Shannon Airports.

The changes represent agreement reached between Irish and US officials following detailed negotiations.

Consultation on the Independent Review of Capacity Needs of Ireland’s State Airports

The National Aviation Policy (NAP), published in August 2015, commits to an independent Review of the Capacity Needs of Ireland’s State Airports. Oxford Economics and Cambridge Economic Policy Associates (CEPA), who were engaged by the Department to undertake this work, completed the Review earlier this year. The Review* was published by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr Shane Ross, TD on 26 October 2018.

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, T.D., has today published the Review of the Capacity Needs for Ireland’s State Airports.

Commenting on today’s publication, Minister Ross said he was acutely aware of the dependence of the national economy on Ireland’s airports, particularly Dublin Airport, and that it is critical to get strategic development decisions right.

Minister Ross announces €3.85m in capital grants for Regional Airports

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross T.D., announced today that he is allocating €3.85 million in Exchequer grants under his Department’s Regional Airports Programme to the airports in Donegal, Ireland West Airport Knock and Kerry.

This represents the 2018 allocation of funding for regional airports and the grants will go towards capital investments in the areas of safety and security at the airports.

The allocations announced today to each of the airports are as follows:
