Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross TD and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Patrick O’Donovan TD have today extended their best wishes to Pat Lam as it is announced that he will leave his role as Head Coach of Connacht Rugby at the end of this season.
Minister Ross said “Connacht Rugby under the stewardship of Pat Lam has gone from strength to strength in the last few years, culminating in their magnificent victory in last season’s Pro12 tournament final over Leinster. It has been absolutely inspiring to watch Connacht’s steady progression and I would like to thank Pat for the dedication and leadership he has shown to the team during his time at Connacht. I wish him the very best of luck in his new role at Bristol when he begins next year.”
Minister O’Donovan added “Irish rugby has reached new heights in recent times and our provincial teams are widely recognised as among the best in the world. During the tenure of Pat Lam spanning almost four years, Connacht has seen fantastic success and this is a testament to the expertise and passion which Pat has shown in his role as Head Coach. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him on behalf of the people of Connacht, of Ireland and the entire sporting community, and wish him well when he moves on to Bristol.”
