Notice To all Shipowners, Ship Agents, Shipmasters, Fishermen, Yachtsmen and Seafarers  

The international agreement concerning the establishment and operation of the civil Loran C in North West Europe and the North Atlantic, known as the NELS Agreement, has been denounced by Denmark, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway. The denunciation will come into force on the 1st January 2006; the established NELS system will continue to be provided in Europe until that date.

France has decided to continue to operate Loran, thus the Loran C signal will remain available in part of the present coverage area.

The most up-to-date information can be found on www.nels.org

The Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), operated by the Commissioners of Irish Lights will continue to be available. 

Further notification with more details will be issued in a Marine Notice before the 1st October 2005.
