Notice To all Shipowners, Ship Agents, Shipmasters, Fishermen, Yachtsmen and Seafarers

The Northwest European Loran C System organisation (NELS) will be discontinued on the 1st January 2006.

The NELS web site will be updated until its closure on the 31st December 2005.

The Norwegian Government has decided to continue the operation of the four Norwegian Loran C stations Berlevåg (Finnmark), Bø in Vesterálen (Nordland), Værlandet (Askvoll Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane) and Jan Mayen, in 2006.

The German Loran C station at Sylt will continue in operation beyond the 1st January 2006, 00:00 UTC* time deadline for a further 4-5 weeks.

The Danish Loran C station at Ejde will also be continued in operation for the timebeing by the Danish authorities.
