Consultation on EU Proposal for Aviation Safety Regulation

NOTICE OF A CONSULTATION ON THE PROPOSAL FOR A REVISION OF THE EUROPEAN AVIATION SAFETY REGULATION 216/2008

The new European Aviation Strategy was adopted by the Commission on the 7th of December 2015 and includes a proposal for a revision of the European Aviation Safety Regulation 216/2008.

A copy of the EU Proposal and Annexes as adopted, COM/2015/0613 Final – 2015/0277(COD), together with the European Commission Impact Assessment documents are included with this notice below.

The European Council Presidency currently held by the Netherlands is prioritising progress on this EU Proposal through the discussions of the Council Aviation Working Group which is represented by all the Member States including Ireland.

In order to assist in the consideration of the EU Proposal, the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport will run a consultation, which is open to all the relevant stakeholders in Ireland, over the next six weeks up to Friday the 8th of April 2016.

Submissions are invited with regard to the EU Proposal and can be sent directly to the Department by e-mail to aviationpolicy@dttas.ie

Please note that, in line with established practice for public consultation, submissions will be published on the Department’s website.
